Intensive Outpatient Program
An Intensive Outpatient Program, or IOP, is a type of treatment program for people who are addicted to drugs and/or alcohol and want help in quitting. By choosing a program like an IOP, you only go to treatment part-time, so you will still have the freedom to keep a job and sleep in your own bed. An IOP alone is not suggested for more severe addictions, however many people battling more serious drug or alcohol addictions choose to enroll in an Intensive Outpatient Program after they finish an inpatient drug rehab or PHP program.
It can seem a little overwhelming or confusing, but we are here to help.
How Our South Florida IOP Can Benefit Your Recovery
Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) will be very beneficial because it will allow clients to continue implementing the skills obtained during intensive inpatient programs along with participating in group, individual, and family therapy without hindering daily client responsibilities like work demands or child care. The main focus of Florida Coast Recovery’s IOP is enhancing our clients’ life skills to provide them with an optimal opportunity at obtaining a great career after recovery and maintaining their sobriety.
At Florida Coast Recovery’s IOP, clients still maintain structure and accountability, while being able to go home at night and work a full-time job to continue supporting their families and themselves. Our skilled therapists and case managers will help them to create their own individualized treatment plan that includes how to recognize personal triggers, preventing relapse, and how to cope with life on each client’s individual terms. For clients in need of assistance regarding job placement etc. their treatment plans will include career placement as a main goal in addition to sobriety goals.
What to Expect at Our South Florida Intensive Outpatient Program
By enrolling in our Intensive Outpatient Program, clients are entering a judgement free zone. If at any time during treatment a client is feeling stressed, overwhelmed with their daily responsibilities, etc., their assigned therapists along with our trained clinical staff is available for individual attention/assistance.
We offer flexible group therapy sessions, as well as individual therapy sessions, to meet most schedules. We realize that clients’ focus needs to be on treatment and rebuilding their lives, not adding any additional stress, and therefore, we try our best to accommodate accordingly. Our schedule typically consists of a weekly individual therapy session with an assigned therapist, group therapy three days a week, with day and evening groups available depending on what works for each specific client.
Intensive Outpatient Programs offer balance between everyday life and having the support of a peer group and treatment team. Additionally, clients will be drug tested and breathalyzed on a regular basis for everyday encouragement and support on their recovery journey. Clients can still go out, “live their lives”, and then have a place to go, vent, and receive feedback about day-to-day activities.
As always, meetings and other free support groups are also recommended in conjunction with traditional therapy so they can build a support system once they complete treatment.

Detox is often the first step towards a full recovery. Having taken alcohol, pain killers, prescription drugs or other habit forming substances, the body builds a tolerance over a period of time. This build up, when stopped, causes withdrawal symptoms. Medication is used to alleviate uncomfortable side effects from sudden discontinued use. This detox process differs for each individual. Our medical staff is fully trained, licensed and compassionate. Let us help you through this vital starting point toward lasting recovery and the joy that comes from a life free from alcohol or drug.
